Rebtel
Rebtel is an innovative company focused on bringing the world the future of mobile telephony. Based in Stockholm, Sweden, with offices in the UK and US, Rebtel was founded in January 2006. Today, Rebtel services are available in more than 36 countries, with more to come by the end of the year.
Company mission
To take the phony out of telephony. To create a genuinely good, honest, and trustworthy global mobile voice services company that saves our users money.
Products
Rebtel offers a range of international mobile telephony services at local rates. These services are all based on a system that allows people to use domestic numbers when calling abroad – international calls at local prices.
Our services include
Direct Calls: Call anywhere in the world using a local number. You pay your mobile operator's usual fee for a local call, plus a small per minute fee to Rebel for the international part of the call.
Smart Calls: You can avoid paying anything to Rebtel by making a Smart Call - click here to learn how to make a Smart Call.
Target markets
Rebtel provides mobile telephony services that can be personalized to meet the needs of the consumer market and micro businesses. Using our services, Rebtel customers can make cheaper, better, and easier calls abroad using local numbers for global friends (and business partners).
Distribution
Rebtel's services are made available via the web in more than 36 countries. All you need is an ordinary mobile phone. There are no downloads, and you don't have to buy a new mobile phone or SIM card, use a headset, switch network, or install any technology.
Financing
Rebtel is partly funded by Index Ventures and Balderton Capital (former Benchmark Capital) and partly by its founders.
