Every time you get charged for a few additional cents on your payments, it's caused by your bank. Some banks include an International Service Assessment (ISA) Fee on international transactions. Most likely it´s a transaction fee, called a Foreign Transaction Fee, that they charge you. Rebtel is located in Luxembourg and Sweden, so payments to us can be considered Foreign Transactions.
For many years this fee was included in the exchange rate by Visa and MasterCard as part of the total transaction amount so it went unnoticed on most statements. Recent changes to credit card company regulations now require this charge to be disclosed separately on your statement.
We would like to emphasize that this fee is not part of Rebtel's charges. We believe that the reason why your Bank is charging you with an international transaction fee is due to the fact that Rebtel is not a registered US company.
