Why Does My Rebtel Call Drop, and How Can I Stay Connected?
My Rebtel Call Drops When Someone Calls My Regular Number. Why?
Your phone automatically prioritizes regular SIM calls over internet-based calls.
When a regular call comes in while you’re on a Rebtel call, your phone may:
- Reassign the phone’s audio connection.
- Temporarily suspend apps running in the background.
- Interrupt your mobile data connection.
- Disconnect your Rebtel call.
This behavior is controlled by your phone’s operating system and can happen with other internet calling apps as well.
How Can I Prevent Incoming Calls From Interrupting My Rebtel Call?
Try the following:
- Enable Do Not Disturb (DND) while making your Rebtel call.
- Disable Call Waiting to prevent another call from interrupting your current call.
- Try Wi-Fi or Phone Lines as your connection method.
Phone Lines can provide a more stable connection in some situations because the call uses your mobile carrier’s network.
My Call Randomly Disconnects Even When Nobody Calls Me. What Should I Do?
If your call disconnects without an incoming regular call, your network connection or phone settings may be responsible.
Common causes include:
- Weak or unstable mobile data.
- Your phone switching between network connections or mobile towers.
- Temporary network interruptions.
- Battery-saving settings restricting Rebtel in the background.
What Can I Try?
Reset your mobile connection
Turn Airplane Mode on for about 10 seconds, then turn it off. This forces your phone to reconnect to the mobile network.
Update Rebtel
Make sure you’re using the latest version of the Rebtel app.
Try another connection
If you’re using mobile data, try Wi-Fi. If Wi-Fi is unstable, try a stable 4G or 5G connection instead.
I’m Using Android. Could Battery Settings Affect My Calls?
Yes. Some Android devices use battery optimization settings that can restrict apps, particularly when your screen is locked.
You can check your Rebtel battery settings by going to:
Settings → Apps → Rebtel → Battery → Unrestricted
The exact menu names may vary depending on your Android device.
Why Is My Call Choppy, Delayed, or Echoing?
Call quality depends heavily on the stability of your internet connection.
Choppy audio, delays, or other sound problems can be caused by:
- Weak Wi-Fi.
- Network congestion.
- Unstable mobile data.
- Packet loss.
- Other apps using significant internet bandwidth.
How Can I Improve My Call Quality?
Try:
- Moving closer to your Wi-Fi router.
- Closing streaming or other bandwidth-heavy apps.
- Switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data.
- Restarting your phone.
If the problem consistently happens even with a strong and stable connection, contact Rebtel Support so we can investigate further.
Why Am I Getting a “Low Credit” Message?
First, check which connection method you’re using.
If you’re calling through Phone Lines, your mobile carrier treats the connection like a local call. This means you may need available local calling minutes from your carrier.
Your call may not connect if:
- You don’t have local calling minutes available.
- Your carrier restricts the call.
- You’re affected by roaming restrictions.
In these situations, your mobile carrier may block the call before it reaches Rebtel.
Which Rebtel Connection Type Should I Use?
The best connection method depends on where you are and how you want to call.
I Want the Most Stable Connection
Try Phone Lines.
Keep in mind that your mobile carrier’s local calling minutes may be required.
I Want to Avoid Carrier Calling Charges
Use Wi-Fi when you have a strong and stable internet connection.
I’m Travelling Abroad
Use Travel Mode with Wi-Fi to avoid relying on your mobile carrier for the connection.
I’m Calling While on the Go
Use mobile data when you have a stable 4G or 5G connection.
I Tried Everything and My Calls Still Drop. What Should I Do?
If your calls continue to disconnect after trying the troubleshooting steps above, contact Rebtel Support.
It’s especially important to contact us if:
- Calls repeatedly disconnect without an incoming regular call.
- The problem continues on a strong and stable network.
- The same destination consistently fails.
- The issue happens repeatedly after restarting your connection and updating the app.
What Information Should I Provide?
To help us investigate, please provide:
- The phone number you’re calling from, including the country code.
- The phone number you’re calling, including the country code.
- Whether you were using Phone Lines, Wi-Fi, or mobile data.
- The exact date and time the problem occurred, including your timezone.
- Your phone model.
- Your operating system version.
Providing the exact date and time of the affected call is especially important because it allows our technical team to locate and investigate the relevant call information.
Why Can’t Rebtel Prevent Every Call From Dropping?
Some aspects of calling are controlled by your phone, operating system, hardware, or mobile carrier rather than Rebtel.
For example, Rebtel cannot override:
- How iOS or Android prioritizes regular phone calls.
- Hardware limitations when your phone switches between voice and data.
- Your mobile carrier’s network policies.
However, we can investigate potential route problems, improve how calls connect, and help you find an alternative connection method that works better for your situation.
